...2008 Venom Banquet!

- December 2007

Over 30 Venom players and their families attended the 2007 banquet dinner.  Food, fun, and awards made the evening a great one.  Our guess speaker Tamika Daniel impressed the crowed with her wonderful poem about the Venom girls.  She shared her playing experience with the girls and encourage them to be persistent and to continue their hard work.  Tamika was a 4 year started for the University of New Mexico and still holds the record for the most career steals.  Tamika is a valuable member of the Venom women’s team and a great friend.

Today is your day

Some call it a game, a source of recreation.  Some play it for exercise, and some for the spirit of competition.

For some there are no metaphors, no symbolic association.

But for some it represents more then a game, for some a road to a college education.

For some it’s more then just hard wood floors, fiber glass backboards, and 10 ft goals.  More then a place to shoot lay-ups and jumpers, for some it’s like a second home.

A place of peace, as you perfect your craft, a place where there is no rest for the weary.  A place where hard work and commitment are welcomed, for some it’s a sanctuary.

For some it’s more then offense and defense in sneakers and uniforms more then whistles and referees, fans and concession stands, and keeping track of the score.

It’s much more then a round ball draped in leather, more then a sport for some a culture,

It’s the dream it represents, the opportunity it presents, for those few it’s a brighter futures.

Leaders on and off the court, do the Venom have what it takes?  To be Champions in the game you love, it’s up to you to claim your fate.

So “V’s UP…Fangs Sown”, cause that’s the Venom way!!!

Dreams do come true, so reach for the stars.

Today is your day!
